Orthopedic Manual Therapy

MUSCULOSKELETAL/ORTHOPEDIC THERAPY

There are numerous modalities that are in place to improve your musculoskeletal system. These varied techniques can be used solely but are often found to be more effective when used cohesively. At Renew Manual Physical Therapy we utilize an integrative approach to decrease pain and improve range of motion and flexibility to joints.

Musculoskeletal Therapy

Manual therapy techniques combined with movement patterns are used to restore optimal mobility of the joints and soft tissues which include fascia, skin, tendons, ligaments, nerves, organs, and muscles. Once optimal movement patterns are achieved, neuromuscular re-education is implemented with intent to enhance specific muscle initiation, strength, and endurance. Then motor control is applied to allow for the most efficient use of the body with proper movement patterns in place. This piece integrates daily activities specific to you, from day to day tasks to sport specific movements.

Musculoskeletal Therapy FAQ's

Whether immediately following an injury, surgery or dealing with chronic pain, manual therapy is appropriate for those struggling with disorders affecting movement, strength.

Treatment at Renew Manual Physical Therapy will provide a one-on-one full hour with your highly trained therapist to focus on you. Our goal is to provide you with the education and knowledge you need to take care of yourself outside of the clinic. You will be asked to invest in your own healing and with that, you will spend less time in the clinic overall, saving you time and money, yet experiencing profound changes in your function.

The “Musculoskeletal System provides form, support, stability, and movement to the body. It is made up of bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other connective tissue that supports and binds tissue and organs together,” states the National Library of Medicine. Thus, the musculoskeletal system is in place to protect our visceral, neural, and vascular systems (the ones that keep us alive). For instance, in a car accident, one yet as they change directions they roll their ankle……why? They didn’t step in a hole and there wasn’t any contact from an opposing player. Often, the body is trying to protect something deeper and as a result your ankle will roll well before your put too much stress on the structure the body is trying to protect.

At Renew Manual Physical Therapy we are looking for the why (the cause). We know you rolled your ankle and we actively participate in rehabilitating this injury to restore your function and return you to the field. As an added bonus, we search for the why, the driver, and work to eliminate your underlying dysfunction that ultimately resulted in your injury. This method allows you to return to the field healthier and more functional than before you rolled your ankle and significantly decreases your risk of further injury.
